With this issue we gain more understanding of God’s Word so we can get it deeply rooted into our souls and put it into practice in our daily living. Strengthened with the power of the rightly divided Word, we can freely share what we learn with others so that they too can apply those truths for consistently powerful results.
The benefits of God’s Word are always available to us, but God never oversteps our freedom of will. Amy Cook teaches that in order to receive those benefits, we go to the written Word, the foundation of right believing, and “Choose to Believe Rightly.” Angie Vonderhaar, in “‘Precious’—A Word Study,” shows how we can explore the Bible, establish its truths in our hearts, and interest others in studying the Bible—all by doing a word study.
In the September/October 2017 issue, we noted the 500th anniversary of the posting of Martin Luther’s Ninety-five Theses. In this issue, Rodney Grilliot’s article, “Martin Luther: His 500-Year Legacy and Spiritual Impact,” documents how Luther’s bold and courageous stand on God’s Word was fueled by his love for God and his hunger for the truth.
Both the young and the “youthful” can enjoy digging a little deeper to find more gems of truth with the Children’s Activities pages. Manners and Customs of the Bible helps us recognize “The Eastern Custom of Eating Salted Food Together” and its significance in Acts 1:4. In The Prevailing Word Report are highlights of the special two-day event at The Way International where we joyously commenced our ministry’s seventy-fifth anniversary year in thankful celebration and commissioned the Way Disciples of Outreach Group XXIV. On page 27 you’ll find a map of the 2017-2018 Regions in The Way of the U.S.A., along with photographs of the Region coordinators and their wives, for your prayers and believing.
Here is one way to help you make choices with the most favorable results. As you read through this issue, make a list of statements that encourage you to make the right choices. Then read your list of statements aloud, saying “I choose to…” before each statement. For example, “I choose to love God, believe His Word, and have no fear.” Enjoy applying godly affirmations in your life by believing and acting on them. Applying the Word allows God to open doors for you to receive the rich blessings He has for you!
